Sometimes if you open it with a video editor or video convertor such as Handbrake or MPEG Streamclip, you’ll be able to open/resave it. If you are lucky, you’ll have a file that’s reasonably sized but unable to open it on the computer or see it on your camera. And I’m pretty sure it happens to other DSLR models as well, maybe even the C300?!?! I’m a Canon user and it has happened on the 60D, 7D and 5D MK2. It seems that if you’re recording and your camera battery dies or you accidentally press the power button before you stop the record, the file that was being written into the memory card might (and probably won’t) finish writing properly. Shooting video footage on DSLRs are awesome, but one thing that’s new for me is shooting on CF and SD cards instead of miniDV tapes. This would also work for Windows and footage shot on other cameras or camera phones.
